Apparently, according to Halperin's "The Page," Karen Sebelius has announced that Obama's VP nominee will be speaking on veterans' issues. Could this topic reflect the nominee (if the nominee has been chosen yet)? For which potential nominee would this be a likely topic?
It would certainly seem like the right topic for Webb--not only a veteran but the author of veterans' legislation--if he were to recant his Shermanesque. Leon Panetta, recently mentioned by Halperin, is also a veteran. And then there's a more intriguing longshot, Colin Powell.
Of course, it could also be that the topic has been chosen because the nominee is a governor who will need to start building national security credentials.
